as an agent for film distribution, i have -over the years- accumulated good contacts in the business. Time to use them more... personally (and creatively). I would like to find a screenwriting partner, and get a script ready for Cannes at the earliest, next AFM at the latest. I write about 5 script coverages by week, and my criticism of other people's scenarii has led me to face... continuous writer's block. I REALLY need the stimulation and inspiration a collaboration can provide. My first language is French, so i'm open to a French or English collaboration. We would only be able to meet in person a few days each month, and most of the collaboration would have to happen via phone or i.m. If you're interested, send me some info about yourself, including which story (precisely or more vaguely) you would like to write, which films/ scripts have inspired you etc. Please do not contact me with an already finished script you're trying to place. Send all info directly to my tribe address (no need to respond to this post)

Re: looking for screenwriting partner
Mon, October 8, 2007 - 5:31 PMI watched 150 action films over the weekend. They were shown on a grid so you could view them all at the same time!
On the subject of collaboration, my favorite film (of the 150) was about a monkey and fistfighter; it had the best fake fight scenes. I think it would translate well into French.
What is your favorite film about a monkey? and what is your favorite film about a fist fighter? -

Re: monkeys and fistfights
Mon, October 8, 2007 - 6:21 PMI'm guessing you're talking about the cumbersomely named "Every Which Way But Loose" or its sequel, "Any Which Way You Can."
Clint Eastwood's sidekick was an orangutan, so I'd say he was step up from a monkey. -

Ape - Latin name: "simia" because it is similar to humans
Tue, October 9, 2007 - 9:16 AMThe female ape always gives birth to twins, one of which she loves and the other she hates. When she carries her young, she holds the one she loves in her arms, but the one she hates must cling to her back. When the ape is pursued by a hunter, she tires from running while carrying her two children; when she is in danger of being caught, she drops the child she loves in order to escape, but the one she hates continues to cling to her back and is saved.
There are five types of apes. The first is called cericopithicus and has a tail. The second, with rough hair, is called sphinx, and is docile, not wild. The third is cynocephalus, with a head like a dog and a long tail. The fourth, the satyrus, is lively and has a pleasant face. The fifth, called callitrix, has a long beard on its pointed face, and has a wide tail.
Apes are happy at the new moon but grow sad as it wanes. At the equinox they urinate seven times. Apes are said to be ugly, dirty beasts with flat and wrinkled noses; their rear parts are particularly horrible.
